Blueberry Lemonade Smoothie

Summer, summer time! This smoothie definetly reminds me of that one thing I’m craving during those hot summer days! Luckily, I have a healthier option to choose now rather then those high sugar drinks!

This recipe is from the “Smoothie Project” by Catherine McCord.

So here’s what’s in it!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1/4 cup coconut yogurt

  • 1/8 teaspoon cardamon powder

  • 1 tbsp blue spiralina powder

  • 1/2 lemon - juiced

  • 1 tbsp local honey

  • 1/2 cup coconut water (1 cup if you like your smoothies thinner)


Making the smoothie

Combine all the ingredients into the blender. Start on a medium setting working your way up to a higher speed. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Coconut yogurt - dairy free, good source of calcium and potassium

Cardamom - antioxidant, reduces swelling and supports immune system

Blue spirulina - antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and a good source of chlorophyll

Lemon - good source of vitamin C, powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant

Honey - good antioxidant and helps with inflammation

Coconut water - high in potassium, low in calorie and hydrating
